A Barocko Project

Take a screenshot. Get a link. Keep the image.

v1.1.0 · MIT No account required GNOME 44+ Open source

How it works

Three steps. No accounts. No compromises.

01
Screenshot
Press PrtScr or use GNOME's screenshot tool. The image saves to your screenshots folder as normal. Courier does nothing until the file is fully written.
02
Upload
Courier detects the new file, uploads it to your configured Nextcloud folder and creates a public share link via the Nextcloud OCS API. No intermediaries.
03
Share
A system notification appears with Copy link and Show. Use Copy link directly from the notification, or open Share Center for more formats: Markdown, HTML, direct link, image.

Features

Built to stay out of the way.

Courier handles the technical parts quietly in the background so you can focus on the work.

🔒
Your server, your files
Uploads go to your own Nextcloud. Courier has no cloud service, no account and no telemetry.
📋
Clipboard untouched
Courier never overwrites your clipboard automatically. The screenshot image stays there until you choose to copy a link.
🔔
Notification, no interruption
Share Center doesn't open automatically by default. A system notification gives you Copy link and Show without interrupting your workflow.
🔑
GNOME Keyring security
The Nextcloud app password is stored in GNOME Keyring via libsecret. Never in plaintext. Never in a config file.
🌐
Background mode
Close the window — Courier keeps watching and uploading. Reopen from the tray icon or any notification.
Automatic retry
Temporary network failures retry with bounded exponential backoff. A missed upload is never silently dropped.

Privacy

There is no Courier cloud.

The only server Courier ever talks to is your own Nextcloud.

🚫
No cloud
Courier has no SaaS component, no own account and no servers that receive your screenshots.
📵
No telemetry
Courier contains no tracking, no analytics and no crash reports that get sent to a third party.
🔑
Nextcloud Login Flow
Login uses Nextcloud's own Login Flow v2. Your normal Nextcloud password never reaches Courier.
🛡
Cross-origin protection
Authenticated requests never follow redirects to a different origin. Login data is never forwarded.
